The first series of our acclaimed Audio Drama archive

Bunbury Banter began by specialising in creating short new writing audio drama productions, which were initially aired on Hayes FM. Over time these spread to radio stations around the globe.

 

The series was recorded in rep with the same cast performing across all of the plays.

 

Our first series of radio plays were experimental to say the least! These plays delve into a moralistic fantasy style. Follow a kingdom of children in a contest with a kingdom of adults, haunted shoes, rhyming magic and revenge. A start that any theatre company would be proud of!

Working with limited twenty minute time slots for airing we developed our own style of work, which allowed audiences to tune in and engage with a whole story, during a break in their day.

We worked with new writers to develop each play until it was ready to take into the rehearsal room, with our company of actors, superb tech team and our invited director for each series. They then guided our amazing casts through each script that made up the series.

Our radio plays have aired worldwide receiving acclaim, including winning the Best Short Drama in the British Public Radio Awards 2013 and previous nominations for both a Channel4 Talent Award and in the Radio Academy Awards 2012.
